Community Spirit

Well done to the children in Alder Class who organised a cake sale (inspired by Cooper) before the holiday to raise money for the homeless in Leeds.  It was wonderful to see the children working so hard to improve the lives of others within our community.

We have also recently received a letter of thanks for the donation of food after the KS1 Harvest Festival in the Autumn term.

'We are writing to thank the staff and pupils of Asquith Primary School for your recent donation to our collection for Leeds South and East food bank and the homeless charity Street Angels who prepare meals and donations for those living on the streets of Leeds.  We were overwhelmed by your school’s generosity.'

Well done everyone!

New Year

gill on: Mrs Austerfield's Blog

Happy New Year to everyone!  The first week of term was a very positive start to 2019, it was great to see the children come back to school with such a positive attitude to their learning.

We held our first 'Parent Voice' meeting on Friday with 8 parents in attendance.  School meals, snacks and healthy eating were the main discussion points raised and hopefully you will see some actions over the next few weeks as a result of our conversations.  Issues raised for future discussion were Relationship and Sex Education and communication pathways.

The winter has been mild so far but I notice that snow is forecast in the coming week.  As always we will do our best to stay open but will inform you though the text, school app and twitter if things change.

Remembrance Parade

I think today was the wettest parade we have ever participated in!  So impressed by Ed and Eden and the resilience they showed! Not a single complaint despite the torrential rain. Makes me proud to be your headteacher.  Well done!

Remembering WW1

The children have been creating poppies as part of our work about WW1.  They are on display in the main corridor. We are selling poppies in school this week to support the Royal British Legion poppy appeal.
