Having fun in our "Keep Fit Garden"

Amanda Ellis (amanda) on: Red and Green Butterflies BLOG!

Now that Spring has arrived we are loving playing in our "Keep Fit Garden" next to Nursery.

We are using our phonic knowledge and reading the questions on the posters, for example, "Can you lift the lids?" "Can you kick the ball?"

We are also showing our school value of "Determination" when learning to balance along the wooden logs and kick the ball without it going over the fence and our school value of "Equality" by ensuring that we treat each other fairly and give everyone a turn.

Stay and Plant!

Amanda Ellis (amanda) on: Red and Green Butterflies BLOG!

Wow, what a great time we've all had getting our playground ready for Spring! We've had fun digging up the weeds and planting new flowers in the tyre flower beds and large plant pots near our classroom door.

Thank you to the parents, grandparent and older sibling who came to help us at our three "Stay and Plant" sessions. It's the first time we've done a Stay and Plant so thanks again for making it such a success.

We promise to look after our new plants by watering them regularly and not climbing on the tyre flower beds, we wouldn't want to squash them!

Next week, we're going to write and draw instructions about how to plant as well as plant some seeds that Mrs Cassidy kindly bought for us.

Superstar readers!

Amanda Ellis (amanda) on: Red and Green Butterflies BLOG!

Well done to the 18 children for taking part in the March reading challenge by reading at least 4 times a week at home! The teachers are very proud of you all. We can already see the difference in your reading with this extra practice at home. Keep up the fantastic work! (Thank you parents and grandparents for supporting the children with their reading).

Teddy Bears Picnic

Amanda Ellis (amanda) on: Red and Green Butterflies BLOG!

What a sunny morning for our class reward... a teddy bears picnic! We had fun chatting to our friends and teddy bears whilst enjoying some fruit, crisps, biscuits and milk. We are so proud of ourselves for earning our class target reward! #showingrespect

We've trapped the Evil Pea!

Amanda Ellis (amanda) on: Red and Green Butterflies BLOG!

This morning we decided it was time to put a stop to the Evil Pea’s mischief making once and for all. We decided to put the traps that we made in places where the Evil Pea has been; on top of the sand tray, on the Creation station table, next to the smart board, on the carpet and down the corridor near our snack boxes, hoping that one of the traps would work.

After lunch we checked the traps in the classroom and the Evil Pea wasn’t there. The special helpers went with Miss Dean to check the “Water Park” trap near the snack boxes and to their excitement found the Evil Pea trapped behind “the bars.” They returned to the classroom to tell the rest of the Butterflies that the trap had worked, we’d succeeded in trapping the Evil Pea.

Some of us thought that the Supertato’s we’ve made this week helped to trap the Evil Pea once and for all. Is this the end for the Evil Pea?
