2024-2025

Pedestrian Training - January 2025

We were really excited to have the road saftey team in school. We practiced 'The Green Cross Code' and talked about how to cross the road safely and the importance of being safe whilst traveling.

Reception Owl Visitors - January 2025

As part of their woodland topic, Reception enjoyed a visit from SMJ Falconry where they were shown different kinds of owls. They even flew around the classroom!

Whole School Trip to the Pantomime- December 2024

What a wonderful time we had at the panto watching Pinocchio! It was magical seeing all the children’s faces enjoying the show. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped us, it was an amazing experience for our Asquith children. Did we have fun? Oh yes we did!

Dodgeball Competition- November 2024

What a brilliant evening at the annual 'Dodgeball Competition' held at Morley Leisure Centre. Our fantastic team of Year 6's competed against other Morley schools and finished top of the league! They then went on to play the winners of the Middleton/Beeston schools and came joint 1st.

Morley Youth Summit- October 2024

Our School Council attended the Youth Summit at Morley Town Hall. They took part in activities to explore local democracy, met the Mayor of Morley and the Lord Mayor of Leeds and had a tour of the Town Hall and Council Chambers.

First Aid Workshop - September 2024

Y6 were visited by nurses from Leeds Teaching Hospitals for a workshop on Emergency First Aid. This links brilliantly with our PSHE curriculum about children knowing how to keep themselves and others safe. The children learnt some basic first aid, as well as CPR and the Heimlich manoeuvre. They also learnt about some of the career options in the NHS. 

EYFS Story Bus - September 2024

Children in Nursery and Reception were very excited to be visited by the Leeds Story Bus. They enjoyed sharing a story on the bus as well as picking their own books to look at.

Nursery Teddy Bears Picnic - January 2025

Nursery had such fun inviting their grown ups into school for their Teddy Bears Picnic stay and share. They enjoyed talking about the teddies they had brought into school before sharing lots of activities in class.

Choir's visit to Springfield Retirement Home - December 2024

This older members of our choir put on a special Christmas concert for the residents of Springfield House Retirement Home. They sang brilliantly and spent some time talking to the residents afterwards.

Great Fire of London Workshop - November 2024
Year 2 had a fantastic workshop where we travelled back to 1666 to explore The Great Fire of London. We met characters such as Samuel Pepys and King Charles II. The children loved the workshop along with the singing and re-enactment and left with lots of new and exciting information!

Anti-Bullying Week- November 2024

During Anti-Bullying Week, I set the children a 'Kindness Challenge'.
Staff in school have been looking out for children showing acts of kindness and today we celebrated our Asquith 'Kindness Heros' in assembly. One of our governors presented the children with special certifcates and prizes to say thank you to these special children

Remembrance- November 2024

Members of our School Council represented Asquith at the annual Remembrance
Service in Morley. They joined in the parade from the Town Hall to Scatcherd Park and laid a wreath at the Morley cenotaph. It was a very moving event and we were honoured to represent the Asquith community in remembering those who gave their lives for their country. Today, we will also be holding a minutes’ silence in school. 

Year 2 Materials Day- October 2024

Y2 enjoyed a Science focus day all about materials. They designed and made a hat then tested whether it was waterproof and how warm it would keep your head. The children worked so hard on their designs and we were so impressed with their creativity and ingenuity!

Roald Dahl Day 2024- September 2024

The children enjoyed a range of activities in class linked to Roald Dahl books. We had some wonderful Wonka Chocolate Bar creations and even some marvellous medicine potions cooking away in classrooms! 

2023-2024 

World Book Day 2024 

The children celebrated World Book Day by exploring fantacy texts through writing, reading and creative activities. We also held a creative homework competition where children could pick how they represented their favourite book.

Year 2 Learning Showcase- February 2024 

The children in Year 2 were so excited to share their learning from this year with their parents. They could talk so confidently about The Great Fire of London and Explorers from the past.

Reception: A Visit From The Owls- January 2024

As part of Reception's topic, 'Into The Woods' the children enjoyed a visit from SMJ Falconry. The children loved holding the owls and learning lots of information about them. 

Church Visit Year 3- December 2023

Year 3 Visited St Peter's Church for an interactive Christmas workshop. A highlight was when they learned about the gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Anti-Bullying Week - November 2023

Our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors led an assembly to end anti-bullying week. They talked about what bullying is and isnt's, what pupils can do if they or someone they know is being bullied and how to support children. 

Inter-Faith Week- November 2023

We had several visitors in school as part of our Inter-Faith focus week. Year 4 parents treated the children to a facinating presentation about Sikhism and Beth from St Peters Church shared information about Christian celebrations during our assembilies.

EYFS Share and Make Story Spoon Session- March 2024 

As part of our World Book Day celebrations Nursery and Reception parents came into school to create story spoons with their children based on their favourite story book character. 

Visit from author J.A. Browne- March 2024

Year 4 were treated to a visit from author J.A.Browne linked to their English work around fantasy texts. It was such an inspiration to meet a real-life author and learn about her Earth Chronical books. 

Year 6 Futsal - March 2024

Year 6 enjoyed their trip to play futsal against schools in the local area.

Whole School Trip To The Pantomime- December 2023

In December all of the children at Asquith Primary School got to experience a trip to the Bradford Alhamrah to watch Cinderella!

Visit to Springfield Residential Home- December 2023

At Asquith we are proud to be a part of our amazing Morley community. KS1 went to perform some songs and spend time with the residents at Springfield. A fabulous time had by all! 

Grow Your Talent Day- November 2023

We had visitors in Year 6 to support them in learning about different career paths and consider the skills they will need for the world of work. 

Remembrance- November 2023 

To mark Remembrance Sunday, a group of Year 6 children attended the Morley Centeral Methodist Church along with local councillors and veterans. Our school council also attended the Morley remembrance parade.
