Illness or Accident During the School Day

In the unfortunate event of your child having an accident or becoming unwell whilst at school, parents/ carers will be contacted immediately using the emergency contact details you have provided us. It is essential you keep these details up to date, please let the school office know if your details change.

Medical Tracker

We have recently implemented a new system in school called Medical Tracker. This system is used to record first aid treatment and also the administration of medication for our children. In addition, the system allows parents/carers to receive notifications of when medication and/or first aid treatment has been administered to their child; notification of when their child’s medication is expiring; and also when individual health care plans are due to be reviewed.

To use Medical Tracker effectively, we need to collect the best email address to use to notify you of incidents. Parents are asked to fill in a form available from the office.

Please be assured that Medical Tracker is registered with the Data Protection Registrar and guarantees that all information you provide will be kept private and will not be passed on to any other organisation.

Medication During the School Day

We would appreciate it if your child could have their medication around the school day if at all possible. Should your child require medication to be administered whilst at school please come to the office to complete the appropriate forms and staff will ensure that this is administered in accordance with your instructions. Please note that we are only allowed to administer prescribed medication so this will need to be provided in the original packaging and with pharmacy labels.

Contageous Illnesses

If your child is suffering from a contagious infection. It is essential that they remain at home until the risk of passing on the infection has gone. Children suffering from sickness and or diarrhoea must not return to school for 48 hours after the last instance.

Food Allergies

We have children and staff with severe allergies in school. We are a nut free school and also ask that you avoid bringing celery and kiwi into the building too.

If your child has any food allergies, dietary requirements or medical conditions please ensure you notify the school office as soon as possible. You may need to have a meeting to discuss a Health Care Plan to ensure your child’s needs are fully met.

Ongoing Medical Needs and Conditions

If your child has long-term medication such as inhalers, please complete the relevant forms at the office.
